Goose down, commonly used to fill comforters and jackets, exists in several different qualities, as shown in the tables herebelow. Each quality is made by a percentage of down, ie the tinier and fluffier feathers, best for heat insulation, and by a percentage of feather, that is coarser and less insulating. The higher the percentage of down, the better the fill power (the volume of filling obtained by the same grams of down), and the better the insulation properties.
The most common qualities contain between 70% and 90% down. 90% or "90/10" is the best quality and has a fill power of 750 or more. Besides, a better quality down lasts much longer, and it resumes its original shape and volume more easily, when wrinkled.
Sweet Mommy only uses 90/10 goose down for its coats and blankets. By using the warmest type of down, our coats and blankets are elegant (as they are not too thick) and very warm, thus offering the highest comfort to the mom and baby.
Our label reads: 90% Down / 10% Feather, that is the assurance that we have used 90/10 (ie top quality) goose down.
Beware of imitations!
